Pertinent Case Information*
Presented today as a referral ultrasound from another hospital.  History provided:
8/25/21 Concerned about weight loss& refusal to eat dry food - normally at both dry and canned.  Slight elevation in albumin (=4.3 [2.5-3.9]) & mild gingivitis.  Weight 14lb 3 oz.
9/22/21 - continued weight loss. X-ray showed enlarged liver silhouette. Rx Cerenia & mirataz. Weight 13 lb 6oz.
10/7/21 - considering euthanasia.  Continued weight loss. Weight 12 lb 5oz  Rx: depomedrol.
Diagnostics: HW antibody neg.
Patient was referred for both cardiac ultrasound and abdominal ultrasound.  These are being submitted as separate studies.
Differential Diagnosis*
R/O possible cardiac disease as a cause of continued weight loss.

Findings:
Radiographs: 2 view radiographs submitted for review.
VHS: 6.8.  The cardiac silhouette appears normal in size and shape.  The pulmonary vasculature, pulmonary parenchyma seen and pleural surfaces appear normal with no evidence of congestive heart failure.

Echocardiogram: 49 still images and 3 AVI cine loops submitted for review.
No left atrial dilation seen. The left ventricle appears normal in size (LV estimated at 1.46 cm in diastole).  No right atrial right ventricular dilation seen.  The systolic function is normal (FS: 60%).  The left ventricular wall thickness measures at the high and of normal (IVSd: 0.58 cm, LVPWD: 0.53 cm).  No systolic anterior motion of the mitral valve seen.  No pleural or pericardial effusion seen.  No cardiac masses seen.  No arrhythmias seen on M-mode.
Assessment:
The cardiac study shows left ventricular wall thickness measuring at the high end of normal with normal cardiac chamber size/function and no evidence of congestive heart failure.

There are no significant cardiac changes to warrant cardiac therapy.  There are no significant cardiac changes to account for the patient's weight loss.

With the left ventricular wall thickness measuring at the high and of normal, consider a follow-up echocardiogram in 1-2 years.
